How safe are drones? Urban ICT Arena is participating in EU study

A future where drones are a crucial part of our cities’ infrastructure is on the horizon. They could be used for everything from delivering goods to inspecting bridges or mapping traffic patterns. However, drones could be a potential safety risk – what happens if they stop function while airborne? Or if someone gets access to the system that controls the drones?

Urban ICT Arena is one of the participating partners in an EU study on how to address security-related threats that comes with unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in an urban setting. The study will look at legislation and regulations, with an aim to set a good practice on how drones will operate in cities.

Stockholm is one of five participating cities in Europe and is represented by Urban ICT Arena. To learn more contact Sara Nozkova.

Urban ICT Arena also recently joined Nordic Drone Initiative where different actors across the Nordic countries will cooperate and learn from each other.
